Join Uniting AgeWell - Wangaratta & Benalla

We support older people to live safely, independently, and with dignity in their own homes for as long as possible. As our Hume Home Care program continues to grow, we’re looking for a compassionate, reliable, and community-minded individual to join our supportive team, servicing Wangaratta and surrounding communities.

This role offers meaningful work and the chance to make a genuine difference in the lives of older people by delivering care with empathy, respect, and a strong person-centred approach.

Key Responsibilities

Home Care Workers travel between client homes to provide personalised care and support tailored to each individual’s needs.

Duties may include:

  • Assisting with personal care tasks such as showering, grooming, and mobility support

  • Carrying out general household tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, laundry, and tidying

  • Preparing light meals and supporting safe food storage

  • Maintaining hygiene in kitchens, bathrooms, and shared spaces

  • Providing social support or transport to appointments and community activities

  • Monitoring client wellbeing and reporting any concerns

  • Supporting each client in line with their individual preferences, cultural background, and values

  • Helping ensure the home environment is clean, safe, and comfortable

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking individuals who are passionate about supporting older people to live independently at home. A caring, empathetic nature is essential, along with a genuine commitment to building respectful relationships with clients and their families.

Successful candidates will have:

  • Daytime availability across at least three weekdays, in line with the requirements of this part-time role

  • Excellent organisational skills and a focus on creating safe, clean, and supportive environments

  • A strong understanding of person-centred and community-based care

  • A commitment to delivering high-quality support that meets the needs of clients and their families

  • The ability to work well both independently and as part of a collaborative team

  • A shared commitment to our organisational values and the BEST philosophy – Believe, Excel, Support, Trust

Mandatory Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must have or be willing to obtain the following:

  • A nationally recognised Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (or equivalent qualification, including nursing students)

  • A valid Australian driver’s licence and access to a reliable, roadworthy vehicle with insurance

  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications

  • A Working with Children Check (Employee)

  • A National Police Check or NDIS Worker Screening Check

  • Up-to-date vaccinations in accordance with Uniting AgeWell’s organisational policy

  • Full Australian working rights
