About the role:

Are you an experienced Chef with strong leadership skills looking for a rewarding weekend role? We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Chef to join the team at Uniting AgeWell Strath-Haven, overseeing the smooth operation of the kitchen and ensuring high standards of food quality and service for our residents.

About the Role:
This position is Saturday and Sunday, 6:30am to 2:30pm, and is ideal for someone who thrives in a supervisory role and is passionate about aged care. You’ll be responsible for leading the kitchen team, coordinating meal preparation, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards — all while delivering nutritious, well-balanced meals that support the health and wellbeing of our residents.

Supervisory experience is essential, along with a commitment to excellence and a genuine care for older people.

  • Planning, ordering and preparing meals in a way that will enhance the resident’s dining experience, in line with all specialised diets, including supplements and texture modified foods
  • Ensure a high level of compliance with all food safety guidelines and HACCP procedures
  • Plan and prepare nutritious, well-balanced meals tailored to residents' dietary needs and preferences
  • Ensure meals meet specific dietary requirements (e.g. texture-modified diets, allergies, cultural preferences)
  • Maintain food safety and hygiene standards in accordance with aged care regulations
  • Monitor stock levels and order supplies as needed
  • Collaborate with care staff to ensure meal times align with residents’ routines and care plans
  • Supervise kitchen staff and delegate tasks effectively
  • Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment
  • Prepare meals for special occasions or themed events within the facility
  • Receive and store food deliveries appropriately
  • Record and report any incidents related to food safety or resident feedback
  • Support residents’ wellbeing by creating a positive and respectful dining experience

About you:

This is the place for you if you have:

  • Hold a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
  • Have experience in a Residential Aged Care kitchen environment (ordering, budgeting and rostering
  • Have worked with specialised diets, including supplements and texture modified foods
  • Fully conversant with HACCP and food safety legislation
  • Thrive in a team and also appreciate the one to one interactions
  • Are committed to being part of a workplace culture based on the BEST way of life (Believe, Excel, Support and Trust)

  • A current Working With Children Check card
  • Current and ongoing flu vaccinations
  • Australian working rights
  • Ability to pass a national police clearance and NDIS Clearance
