About the role:

Uniting AgeWell's Metro Home Care supports elderly clients to live safely and independently at home for as long as possible. We offer comprehensive ageing support and services throughout the suburbs of Melbourne, with local employment opportunities in Docklands, Carlton, Royal Park, South Yarra, Southbank, Waterfront City, West Melbourne and surrounding communities.

Our part-time roles require a minimum commitment of 20 hours per fortnight. You must have availability on at least three weekdays per week during daytime hours.

This role involves travelling between clients’ homes to provide support and care tailored to their individual needs. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing personal care, including showering, grooming, and mobility assistance
  • Supporting clients with domestic tasks such as meal preparation and household chores
  • Providing social support and transport for appointments or activities
  • Ensure that client’s rights, cultural, spiritual and other individual needs are incorporated in all aspects of care and daily living 
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team, provide effective support to clients, recognise changes in clients’ conditions and escalate observations and concerns in accordance with Uniting AgeWell processes
  • Promote and participate in quality activities, and provide outstanding customer service maintaining friendly, supportive and professional relationships with clients, their relatives and friends
  • Support colleagues by sharing knowledge and expertise
  • Must have your own car (registered in your own name), valid insurance and a current Victorian driver's licence

About you:

You are passionate about what you do and want to make a difference in the lives of our clients, enhancing their self-esteem and empowering them to make choices.

  • Certificate III/IV or equivalent in Individual Support (Aged or Disability) or equivalent (or currently studying a Diploma in Nursing or Bachelor of Nursing)
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates
  • Current and valid Victorian Driver's Licence
  • Experience in a home care setting or providing domestics support is desirable
  • Knowledge in community care with a commitment to high standards of care for clients and their families
  • Understanding of client directed care
  • Thrive in a team and also appreciate the one to one interactions

Essentials for working in Aged Care:

  • A current Working With Children Check card 
  • Current and ongoing flu vaccinations
  • Australian working rights
  • Ability to pass a national police clearance and NDIS Clearance
