About the role:

Uniting AgeWell's Northcote Home Care supports elderly clients to live safely and independently at home for as long as possible. We offer comprehensive ageing support and services throughout the Northern Region, with employment opportunities in Reservoir, Epping, Preston, Sunbury, Doreen, Whittlesea, Eltham and surrounding communities.

Our part-time roles require a minimum commitment of 20 hours per fortnight. You must have availability for at least 3 weekdays per week during daytime hours.

We’re looking for individuals with a passion for supporting people to live independently in their own homes. A caring, empathetic nature is essential, along with a commitment to building strong relationships with clients and their families.

Home Care Workers provide direct care and domestic assistance duties, as well as social support and transport as required for clients.  

You will:  

  • Ensure that client’s rights, cultural, spiritual and other individual needs are incorporated in all aspects of care and daily living 
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team, provide effective support to clients, recognise changes in clients’ conditions and escalate observations and concerns in accordance with Uniting AgeWell processes
  • Promote and participate in quality activities, and provide outstanding customer service maintaining friendly, supportive and professional relationships with clients, their relatives and friends
  • Support colleagues by sharing knowledge and expertise
  • Must have your own car (registered in your own name), valid insurance and a current Victorian driver's licence

About you:

  • Certificate III/IV or equivalent in Individual Support (Aged or Disability) or equivalent 
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates
  • Current and valid Victorian Driver's Licence
  • Experience in a home care setting or providing domestics support is desirable
  • Knowledge in community care with a commitment to high standards of care for clients and their families
  • Understanding of client directed care
  • Thrive in a team and also appreciate the one to one interactions

Essentials for working in Aged Care:

  • A current Working With Children Check card 
  • Current and ongoing flu vaccinations
  • Australian working rights
  • Ability to pass a national police clearance and NDIS Clearance
