About the role:
 
As Category Manager, you will own the end-to-end performance of assigned procurement categories that directly support the delivery of aged care services across Victoria and Tasmania. This role is accountable for turning category strategy into measurable value through disciplined sourcing, strong supplier performance and effective contract management. Working closely with operational, clinical and finance leaders, you will ensure procurement decisions balance commercial outcomes with quality, safety and continuity of care. Reporting to the Director of Procurement, this role has real influence on organisational sustainability and service outcomes. You will operate with autonomy while contributing to a maturing, enterprise-wide procurement function.
  • Develop and deliver category strategies that maximise value, manage risk and improve outcomes
  • Lead sourcing activities from market analysis through to negotiation and contract award
  • Own supplier performance, including scorecards, reviews and remediation actions
  • Maintain strong governance, compliance and risk management across all category activity
  • Drive savings, cost avoidance and value creation against clear baselines and targets
  • Partner with stakeholders to shape demand, challenge spend and improve purchasing discipline
  • Leverage sector networks and collaborative procurement hubs to strengthen category outcomes

This is a fulltime role based at our corporate head office in Melbourne, working Monday-Friday, 9am - 5pm.

About you:
  • Proven experience leading category management or strategic sourcing portfolios
  • A track record delivering savings, value or risk reduction at scale
  • Confidence leading complex negotiations and supplier relationships
  • Strong commercial judgement supported by data and analysis
  • Experience operating within governance, compliance and risk frameworks
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and challenge demand constructively
  • Understanding of supplier performance management and contract lifecycle control
  • Comfort balancing commercial outcomes with service quality and care impact
