About the role:
Strathdon is seeking an emotionally and spiritually mature chaplain who will continue to shape and develop spiritual care to reflect current spiritual care best practice and UA’s focus on spiritual care being as valued as physical, social, mental, and emotional care. This role is to provide compassionate, person-centered care to residents, work willing and respectfully alongside colleagues, and show initiative in the provision of spiritual and religious care. This role requires the chaplain to communicate comfortably with individuals with complex health needs, people from a variety of faiths, and/or who identify no spiritual/religious beliefs, families, staff, and chaplaincy colleagues. It recognizes the link between emotional and spiritual needs. The person in this role will be responsible for:
- Individual care with residents and their families
- Timely Spiritual Care Assessments/reviews and regular electronic documentation relating to spiritual and religious needs
- Small group work relating to a broad range of spiritual needs and expressions of spirituality
- Leading of worship
- Connecting with spiritual leaders from a variety of faith backgrounds as needed
- Offering guidance, leadership, education to other staff, in matters of spirituality, spiritual care, the role of chaplaincy, and other topics as needed.
About You:

- Compassion, initiative, deep respect and a genuine interest in enhancing the spiritual life and wellbeing of people as they age and experience in the aged care environment
- An ability to identify, assess, and provide for the emotional, spiritual, religious, or secular needs of residents, in line with the Strengthened Australian Aged Care Quality Standards and Uniting AgeWell’s Spirituality Framework.
- A commitment to work with UA as we further develop Trauma Aware and Healing Informed Care for Forgotten Australians and Care Leavers, and continue building networks and relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- Ability to conduct Worship services within the Uniting in Worship 2 Framework
- CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education – minimum 1 unit or an equivalent training and experience in pastoral or spiritual care
- Formal Theological qualifications (preferred)
- Technology skills for both documentation and use in worship
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a diverse range of people

- A current With Children Check card
- Current and ongoing flu vaccinations

- Ability to pass a national police clearance

- Are you willing to meet the requirement for mandatory annual vaccination(s)?
- Do you have qualifications in Theology?
- Please tell us of your experience in leading worship in an aged care setting
- Please tell us of your experience relating to a diverse range of people
- Please tell us of your training and experience in Pastoral and Spiritual Care, and Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)
- Please describe your expertise in using electronic recording systems for the documentation of spiritual and religious based care
- Please describe your familiarity and expertise in carrying out and recording spiritual assessments using prescribed spiritual assessment tools.
