About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and passionate Cook to join the team at Uniting AgeWell Hawthorn Social Connections. Reporting to the Centre Coordinator, this role focuses on delivering high-quality, nutritious meals and exceptional service to program clients, enhancing their daily lives and wellbeing.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am–1:30pm (5 hours per day).

This includes:

• Working within a social connections program to cook a range of home-style cuisines, supporting healthy ageing in a warm, home-like environment.
• Planning, ordering, and preparing meals that enhance the dining experience, tailored to specialised diets, supplements, and texture-modified foods.
• Ensuring strict compliance with food safety guidelines and HACCP procedures.
• Maintaining a clean, organised kitchen and managing stock effectively.
• Engaging with clients in a friendly, respectful manner to create a positive and social dining experience.
• Supporting themed events and special occasions with creative menu ideas.
• Collaborating with staff and volunteers to ensure smooth service and a welcoming atmosphere.

About you:

You are passionate about what you do and want to make a difference in the lives of our residents, enhancing their self-esteem and empowering them to make choices

• Hold a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
• Have experience in a commercial kitchen environment preferably Aged Care
• Have worked with specialised diets, including supplements and texture modified foods
• Friendly and respectful, show integrity and initiative, work at a fast pace
• Thrive in a team and also appreciate the one to one interactions
• Are committed to being part of a workplace culture based on the BEST way of life (Believe, Excel, Support and Trust)

Essentials for working in Aged Care:

• A current Working With Children Check card 
• Current and ongoing flu vaccinations
• Australian working rights
• Ability to pass a national police clearance and NDIS Clearance
