About the role:
Are you passionate about great customer service and creating a welcoming café experience? We’re looking for a friendly and reliable Food Service Assistant to join our team at our aged care facility café in Preston.
This role offers regular hours on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, perfect for someone seeking a consistent, part-time schedule. You’ll be serving residents and visitors, preparing light meals, and ensuring the café runs smoothly in a warm, community-focused environment.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and serve light meals, snacks, and beverages
- Make barista-quality coffee for residents and visitors
- Contribute to residents’ quality of life by supporting their nutrition and hydration well-being through the provision of quality food services
- Maintain a clean and safe café environment, following routine and variable cleaning schedules in line with the Food Safety Program
- Provide warm, friendly service to residents, families, and staff, ensuring privacy and dignity are always maintained
- Listen and respond to resident needs, communicate effectively, and escalate any concerns as required
About you:
You are passionate about what you do and want to make a difference in the lives of our residents enhancing their self-esteem and empowering them to make choices.

- Completion of a Basic Food Handlers Certificate (Preferred)

Have strong customer service skills and a positive attitude
- Barista experience is essential
- Are known for your caring and compassionate nature
- Have the initiative and ability to work without supervision

Essentials for working in Aged Care:
- A current Working With Children Check card
- Current and ongoing flu vaccinations
- Australian working rights
- Ability to pass a national police clearance and NDIS Clearance
