About the role:

We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and customer-focused Food Services Assistant to join our team in the small café within our aged care facility in Preston. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys creating a warm, welcoming experience while delivering high-quality food and coffee to residents, families, and visitors.

A key part of this position is preparing and serving café-style beverages, so barista experience is essential, along with a passion for great coffee and excellent customer service. You’ll play an important role in bringing a sense of connection and enjoyment to our community each day.

This is a part-time position (16 hours per week) with a consistent roster:

  • Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday
  • 10:00am – 2:00pm

You will:

  • Contribute to resident’s quality of life and nutrition and hydration well-being through the provision of quality food services
  • Maintain routine and variable cleaning schedules for food preparation and food service areas in accordance with the requirements of the Food Safety Program
  • You will be organised and keen to serve, you appreciate and respond to resident needs by listening and communicating well, escalating any concerns as needed, whilst ensuring resident privacy and dignity is always maintained

  • Completion of a Basic Food Handlers Certificate (preferred)
  • Barista experience essential
  • Are known for your caring and compassionate nature
  • Have the initiative and ability to work without supervision

Essentials for working in Aged Care:

  • A current Working With Children Check card 
  • Current and ongoing flu vaccinations
  • Australian working rights
  • Ability to pass a national police clearance and NDIS Clearance
