About the role:
Uniting AgeWell's Barwon Home Care team supports older people to live safely and independently in their own homes for as long as possible. We deliver a range of services throughout Geelong, Central Geelong, the Bellarine Peninsula and surrounding communities, helping clients maintain their wellbeing, stay connected to their community and continue living the life they choose.
As a Home Care Worker, you will provide a range of in-home support services tailored to each client's individual needs and care plan. Services may include personal care, domestic assistance, social support, transport to appointments and community activities, and other daily living supports that enable clients to remain independent at home. This is a community-based role that offers variety and independence.
You will travel between clients' homes throughout your shift, with visits typically scheduled for one hour and focused on delivering a specific service. Depending on client needs and your roster, you may support up to five clients per day while building meaningful relationships and delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
This part-time position offers a guaranteed minimum of 10 hours per week, with opportunities for additional hours based on client demand and operational requirements.
To meet the needs of our clients, applicants must be available to work three weekdays per week during business hours, specifically Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:00am. This availability is an essential requirement of the role.
We're looking for people who are passionate about supporting older people to live independently in their own homes. A caring and empathetic nature is essential, along with a commitment to building positive relationships with clients and their families. You will:
- Ensure clients' rights, cultural, spiritual and individual needs are respected and incorporated into all aspects of care and daily living.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, recognising and reporting changes in clients' health and wellbeing in accordance with Uniting AgeWell processes.
- Provide exceptional customer service and maintain professional, supportive relationships with clients, their families and carers.
- Promote and participate in quality improvement activities.
- Support colleagues by sharing knowledge, skills and expertise.
- Have access to your own vehicle (registered in your own name), current insurance and a valid Victorian Driver Licence.
About you: You are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of older people, enhancing their wellbeing and empowering them to live independently. This is the place for you if you have:
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Ageing or Disability) or equivalent, or are currently studying a Diploma of Nursing or Bachelor of Nursing.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- A current and valid Victorian Driver Licence.
- Experience in home care or providing domestic support (desirable).
- Knowledge of community care and a commitment to delivering high standards of care to clients and their families.
- An understanding of client-directed care.
- The ability to work independently while also contributing positively within a team environment.

- A current Working with Children Check.
- Current and ongoing influenza vaccinations.
