About the role:

Are you experienced in working within a commercial or aged care laundry environment and passionate about supporting the wellbeing of older Australians? We’re looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Laundry Assistant to join our dedicated team in aged care.

In this part-time role (32.5 hours per week), working Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 3:00pm, you’ll play a key part in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our residents. Your experience with commercial laundry processes will help ensure high standards of hygiene and care are consistently met.

As an Laundry Assistant you will provide quality laundry services for personal clothing that contribute to resident’s comfort, physical appearance and sense of self-esteem in accordance with the recommended processes for each garment and in compliance with the UA standards, Laundry Manual and Infection control

Tasks include: 

  • Sorting laundry: Separating items by type, color, and washing requirements (e.g. linen, towels, personal clothing).
  • Operating commercial laundry equipment: Using industrial washers, dryers, and ironing/pressing machines safely and efficiently.
  • Folding and storing clean laundry: Ensuring items are neatly folded, sorted, and returned to the correct areas or residents.
  • Maintaining hygiene standards: Following infection control procedures and ensuring laundry is handled in line with aged care regulations.
  • Labeling and tracking personal items: Ensuring residents’ clothing is clearly labeled and returned to the correct person.
  • Monitoring inventory: Reporting low stock of linen or laundry supplies to the supervisor.
  • Cleaning and maintaining laundry equipment: Performing basic cleaning and reporting any faults or maintenance needs.
  • Collaborating with care staff: Communicating with team members to ensure timely laundry service and support resident needs.
  • Organised and keen to serve, you appreciate and respond to resident needs by listening and communicating well, whilst ensuring resident privacy and dignity is always maintained.

  • Have the ability to work efficiently and meet daily laundry demands
  • Are known for your caring and compassionate nature, especially when interacting with residents
  • Have sound knowledge of OH&S procedures, relevant chemicals, and safe work practices
  • Are able to work effectively with minimal supervision, delivering consistent, resident-focused services
  • Thrive in a team environment, while also valuing one-on-one interactions with residents and staff
  • Demonstrate physical fitness and stamina, with the ability to stand for long periods, lift laundry bags, and operate heavy machinery
  • Show strong attention to detail, ensuring correct sorting, handling, and return of residents’ personal items

  • A current Working With Children Check card 
  • Current and ongoing flu vaccinations
  • Australian working rights
  • Ability to pass a national police clearance and NDIS Clearance
