About the role:
The Senior Accountant will supervise a team of Accountants and will be responsible for the preparation and monitoring of budgets, financial reporting and analysis, and to provide a professional financial service through prompt and effective response to managers’ queries and ongoing commitment to service improvements.
In this role, you will:
- Be responsible for team preparation and processing of month and year end journal entries and to undertake analysis of financial performance compared to budget
- Provide supervision and advice that reflects the values and expectations of Uniting AgeWell and facilitates a culture of team building and professionalism
- Prepare annual statutory financial statements, government quarterly financial reports and Prudential reporting in conjunction with the Financial Controller and in compliance with accounting standards and government reporting requirements
- Preparation of subsidy reconciliation to Department of Health statements
- Participate in the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets and revised forecasts as required
- Coordinate and manage internal and external audit processes in conjunction with the Financial Controller, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements and audit timelines
- In conjunction with Financial Controller act as Administrator for banking functions and monitoring and oversight of Treasury functions

- Member of recognised accounting body (CA/CPA) mandatory

Experience in the operations of mid to large finance software

Experience in the health or aged care sector preferred

Demonstrated experience and understanding of computerised finance systems
- Formal accounting or finance qualification
- Sound understanding of Australian accounting standards and pronouncements by the Australian Accounting Bodies
- Thrive in a team and also appreciate the one to one interactions

- A current Working With Children Check card
- Current and ongoing flu vaccinations
- Australian working rights
- Ability to pass a national police clearance and NDIS Clearance
