About the role:
Are you a passionate and adaptable Chef looking for flexible casual work across Melbourne? We are seeking experienced Casual Chefs to support our aged care communities across Kingsville, Preston, Manor Lakes and Hawthorn, with additional opportunities available in Geelong for those interested in picking up extra shifts.
As a Casual Chef, you'll play an important role in preparing nutritious, high-quality meals that enhance the wellbeing of our residents. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, can work across multiple locations, and is available to support our sites at short notice when required.
To be successful in this role, you must have a minimum of three weekdays available each week and be willing and able to pick up shifts across our various locations. Flexibility, reliability and a commitment to delivering exceptional food service are essential.

Tasks Include:
- Planning, ordering and preparing meals in a way that will enhance the resident’s dining experience, in line with all specialised diets, including supplements and texture modified food
- Maintain accurate records relating to food safety, temperature monitoring, cleaning schedules and HACCP compliance.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering, receiving and stock rotation to ensure adequate supplies and minimise waste.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is operated safely and maintained in good working order, reporting any maintenance requirements promptly
- Work collaboratively with Catering Managers, Food Service Assistants and care teams to deliver a high-quality dining experience for residents
- Support special events, themed dining days and celebrations within the home.
- Ensure meals are delivered in a timely manner while maintaining presentation, portion control and quality standards.
- Assist with the induction and support of new kitchen team members as required.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment in line with workplace health and safety requirements.
- Respond positively to resident feedback and contribute to the continuous improvement of food services.
- Demonstrate flexibility by working across multiple aged care sites and adapting quickly to different kitchen environments and teams.
- Ensure all food preparation and service practices align with aged care quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Uphold a resident-centred approach, recognising the important role food and dining play in residents' health, wellbeing and quality of life
- Ensure a high level of compliance with all food safety guidelines and HACCP procedures
- Prepare, cook and present meals in accordance with approved menus, recipes and resident dietary requirements.
This is the place for you if you have:
- Hold a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
- Have experience in a Residential Aged Care kitchen environment (ordering, budgeting and rostering)
- Have worked with specialised diets, including supplements and texture modified foods
- Fully conversant with HACCP and food safety legislation
- Thrive in a team and also appreciate the one to one interactions

- A current Working With Children Check card
