About the role:

Are you an experienced Chef with strong leadership skills looking for a rewarding weekend role? We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Chef to join the team at Uniting AgeWell Box Hill, overseeing the smooth operation of the kitchen and ensuring high standards of food quality and service for our residents.

About the Role:
This position is Saturday and Sunday, 7:00am to 3:00pm, and is ideal for someone who thrives in a supervisory role and is passionate about aged care. You’ll be responsible for leading the kitchen team, coordinating meal preparation, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards — all while delivering nutritious, well-balanced meals that support the health and wellbeing of our residents.

Supervisory experience is essential, along with a commitment to excellence and a genuine care for older people.

  • Planning, ordering and preparing meals in a way that will enhance the resident’s dining experience, in line with all specialised diets, including supplements and texture modified foods
  • Ensure a high level of compliance with all food safety guidelines and HACCP procedures
  • Plan and prepare nutritious, well-balanced meals tailored to residents' dietary needs and preferences
  • Ensure meals meet specific dietary requirements (e.g. texture-modified diets, allergies, cultural preferences)
  • Maintain food safety and hygiene standards in accordance with aged care regulations
  • Monitor stock levels and order supplies as needed
  • Collaborate with care staff to ensure meal times align with residents’ routines and care plans
  • Supervise kitchen staff and delegate tasks effectively
  • Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment
  • Prepare meals for special occasions or themed events within the facility
  • Receive and store food deliveries appropriately
  • Record and report any incidents related to food safety or resident feedback
  • Support residents’ wellbeing by creating a positive and respectful dining experience

About you:

This is the place for you if you have:

  • Hold a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
  • Have experience in a Residential Aged Care kitchen environment (ordering, budgeting and rostering
  • Have worked with specialised diets, including supplements and texture modified foods
  • Fully conversant with HACCP and food safety legislation
  • Thrive in a team and also appreciate the one to one interactions
  • Are committed to being part of a workplace culture based on the BEST way of life (Believe, Excel, Support and Trust)

  • A current Working With Children Check card
  • Current and ongoing flu vaccinations
  • Australian working rights
  • Ability to pass a national police clearance and NDIS Clearance
